'Moving On' - Local Stakeholders 1st Meeting

As part of the Moving on strategy of promoting Traveller, Roma and Sinti inclusion in sports in Ireland and across Europe all partners have organised meetings, in their own countries, with local/national representative organisations and bodies to achieve this goal.

We at Exchange House Ireland organised an online meeting with a number of stakeholders across the country, with a healthy representation from sports bodies, Traveller and Roma organisations and Traveller specific sports organisations/clubs. These organisations include:

  • Sports Against Racism Ireland (SARI)
  • Football Association of Ireland (FAI)
  • National Traveller Mental Health Service
  • County Offaly Sports Partnership
  • Pavee Point
  • Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA)
  • HSE Social Inclusion
  • Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU)
  • Tullamore Travellers FC
  • HSE Mental Health Wicklow
  • St. Patricks GAA, Wicklow

The meeting discussed the early work and contributions to Moving On's Research Report, looking at the early results and how this impacted on the Traveller community and sports in Ireland. The group also discussed possible strategies going forward in this area and future collaboration

The group will meet again in a month or so to review the final report and build upon initial strategies discussed today.
