Exchange House Youth Services will once again take part in Comhairle Na nÓg children’s council.

This year 2 young people from St Margaret’s park Ballymun were elected to the Comhairle Na nÓg council to represent their local community Ballymun. The debate will take place in the Dublin City Council chambers were the young people will raise issues that are affecting the young people in the community today. They will also express their interest on the topic and what they would like to see happen. This year’s topic is Cyber Bullying and the youth council will explore the affects it can have on young people in today’s society.

Groups from 40 different schools around Dublin city will all take part in a 2 day trip to Carlingord Adventure Centre. This will give them the opportunity to promote Anti Cyber bulling, to also get to know each other, make friends and get ready for this year’s term in Comhairle Na nÓg. Michael O Reilly and John McDonagh from Ballymun will attend this event also.

Exchange house feels it is very important that a serious issue like Cyber bullying will be addressed at Comhairle Na nÓg. They are also delighted that two of the Youths who attend the Exchange House young boys group, ran by the Youth service in Ballymun will be given the opportunity to represent their area. Exchange House are very pleased that Michael and John will get the chance to discuss a topic that they are passionate about and a topic they worked on previously with the Youth Service.

Comhairle Na nÓg children’s council aim to produce an information leaflet and DVD at the end of the Comhairle Na nÓg term. They will also put forward a legislation bill to the government for greater efforts in tackling Cyber Bullying.
